“We’re at the beginning of a movement, and the movement is one where people are becoming aware that it is OK to talk about shit, that it is OK to deal with this issue that we have been ignoring for so long”, expressed Rubén Abruña, director of “Holy Shit” to Michael Berger and Anita Huber, producers of the podcast “Tour de Film” for Kanal K from Aarau, Switzerland, who were covering the 23rd edition of the NaturVision Film Festival in Ludwigsburg, Germany, from July 18-21, 2023.
Abruña also explained his motivations to travel the world to document diverse ways of recycling human excrement into compost and shed light on the complexity of an issue which ranges from social taboos, big business, to our existential challenge, climate change.
